WHERE IS NGAMUWAHINE AND WHAT IS THE KAIMAI MAMAKU FOREST PARK????

1. Turn left out of the school driveway and then turn left again onto Fraser Street. Go past Fraser Cove, keep driving on Fraser st until you get to Chadwick road round-about.
2. Turn right into Chadwick Road and keep following it until you reach Cameron Road round-about.
3. Turn left into Cameron road,passing the Tauranga Racecourse, keep going travelling straight until you reach Barks corner round-about turn right so you are on SH29.
4. Keep following SH29 going straight through the next round-about.
5. Follow SH29 all the way through Tauriko passing, Tauriko school, sticking to SH29 the whole time.
6. When you get to the Lower Kaimai's carry on through, sticking to SH29 until you reach a street sign saying Ngamuwahine Road.
7. Turn right onto Ngamawahine Road and go all the way down the driveway until you reach the camp site.

Have you ever been to the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park? The kaimi range now features over 360km of walking and tramping tracks, with beautiful scenery and is full of nature. One of the wonderful things in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest park is that there are spectacular wildlife living around you, some of the different types of birds you will find there are, the Whitehead, Whio/Blue Duck Kaka, Kokako, Kiwi,New Zealand Falcon, Tui and Bellbirds. Tui and Bellbirds are seen the most and you can hear them from a long way away. Another historical fact about the Kaimai Mamaku Forest park is that parts of it used to be a goldmine.The North Island Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park covers and area of 37,000 ha and is one of the lesser known, or least visited, ranges in New Zealand. So we encourage you to go to the Kamai Mamaku Forest park and explore the beautiful nature packed forest. By Georgia and Sam.
